8th Annual Conch Festival Nov 25th and 26th and the Wrightfully fit annual charity run Nov 27th!

The Eight Annual Turks & Caicos Conch Festival

will take place November 25-26, 2011 and will feature a weekend-full of activities on Providenciales, home to the World’s Best Beach.

 The popular beach-side event attracts tourists and locals alike to celebrate the islands’ most famous delicacy, historical icon, and number one export.

 The main event will take place on Saturday afternoon (November 26) in the charming Blue Hills area of Providenciales, outside of Three Queen’s Bar & Restaurant.

To burn off the caloric effects of Friday and Saturday,

Wrightfully Fit Fitness Center is hosting its second annual charity run on Sunday morning, November 27, 2011.

Runners of all levels can enter fun runs of either 5K/3.1 miles or 10K – 6.2miles.

Still Not Too Late to Register for the Race for the Conch Eco-SeaSwim!

Now is the time to register, if you haven’t yet, for the 2nd Annual Turks and Caicos Eco-SeaSwim to take place this Saturday, July 9th in front of the Flamingo Cafe on Grace Bay Beach!

Flamingo Cafe is between Club Med and Ocean Club on the beach starting at 8am.

The “Race for the Conch” has swimmers from over 11 different countries participating. They have all traveled long distance to take part in this swim for charity.

You can register at Marco Travel Office today or at Flamingo Cafe at 8am on Saturday, July 9th.

Can’t participate in the swimming? Then come on out and cheer the athletes on! It’s going to be a great day on our beautiful Grace Bay Beach!

Race for the Conch 2011

Love swimming? Then join in this year’s Race for the Conch taking place Saturday, July 9th! 2010 saw the inauguration of this fun event and a great time was had by all!

Marcus Diaz, an international open water racing star took home the conch trophy last year and he’ll be back to defend his title this year.

The races are not just open to elite swimmers though, they are open to anyone who wants to challenge themselves swimming in the beautiful waters of Grace Bay.

There are one-mile and 2.4 mile eco-seaswim events that you can participate in and the top swimmers will receive “Race for the Conch” trophies. There will be a special trophy awared to the winners of the  “Resorts Cup,” which recognizes the top hotel/restaurant team…so get your workmates involved!

Whether your a competitive or recreational swimmer, you’ll have a blast at this special Turks and Caicos event.

Only 39 days to the Race for the Conch 2011 event! Still plenty of time to plan your vacation around this exciting event. Check out some incredible Turks and Caicos Villas you can rent while you’re here.

Kiteboarding Tournament

The Tournament takes place at Long Bay Beach and you’ll be able to get food and beverages right on the beach. There’s also going to be a raffle for a free kiteboarding lesson!

Marriage in Paradise

I often receive requests for information regarding wedding requirements, particularly since Villa Del Sol came on line. Here they are!

Planning your wedding in paradise?  The following are the legal requirements for obtaining a marriage license in the Turks & Caicos Islands:

  • 1. Passports with stamp showing date of entry in the Turks & Caicos Islands.
  • 2. Original Birth Certificates
  • 3. Both Parties must be in the Turks and Caicos Islands at the time of the application
  • 4. For couples wanting to be married in the Turks and Caicos Islands, they must reside in the Turks & Caicos Islands for a period of 24 hours prior to an application being made to the Registrar in Grand Turk. The ceremony can take place with 48 to 72 hours after the application has been granted
  • 5. For Americans, proof of Marital Status must be provided. That is, if single, a sworn affidavit is required. If divorced, either an Original or notarized copy of the Divorce Decree, sealed by the Court, is required. In the case of a widow/widower, the previous spouse’s Death Certificate is required. In the case of Change of Name by Deed Poll or Adoption, proof of same is required
  • 6. If either party is unmarried, and is a citizen or resident of a country other than the USA, a Declaration certifying this fact must be sworn before a Notary Public or other person authorized to administer oaths in that country, and must accompany the application for the Marriage License.
  • 7. If from other than an English speaking country, all documents must be translated and notarized, accompanied by originals, likewise notarized as above.
  • 8. Irrespective of country, if under the age of 21, consent, in the form of on affidavit stamped by a Notary Public, from one or both parents or guardian must be presented.
  • 9. The marrying couple must not be within the prohibited degree of relationships to each other.
  • 10. A letter stating occupations, marital status and age at the time of application, home address and father’s full name, must be attached to the application.
  • 11. If a church wedding is desired, proof of membership and standing in home church may be required.
  • 12. The party’s must produce evidence of the date of their arrival in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
  • 13. No blood test is necessary.
  • 14. The fee for the license is $100.00 + admin fees, the total generally being between $200-300.00

Marriage Licenses are issued at the Office of the Registrar in Providenciales. The office is open to the public from Monday through Friday, 9.30 am to 4.30pm.

Please be reminded that Passports or any documentation written in a foreign language must be translated and notarized in advance of arrival.
