Turks and Caicos Islands National Trust launches photo, film, poster competition

The Turks and Caicos Islands National Trust is holding a   photo, film and poster competition seeking entries that reflect the country’s   biodiversity or cultural heritage.

The competition was launched Dec. 10 at a registration session at the “Hard Times Festival” in the Casablanca parking lot on Providenciales.

“We are inviting anyone with an eye for photography and film,   if you are a professional photographer or just an amateur with a camera   phone, and you are passionate about the beauty that our Turks and Caicos has   to offer, then you can enter the competition,” said Justin Missick, TCI   National Trust Integrated Biodiversity Project coordinator.

There is no charge for entry, but entries must not bear any   name, logo or distinguishing markings and must be submitted before 5 p.m.   Jan. 3 by e-mail to tc.nattrust@yahoo.com  This e-mail address is being   protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it// or dropped off at the trust office on a CD at Town Centre   Mall, Butterfield Square, on Providenciales.

Each entry must be personally shot by the participant. Photo   entries are limited to two per person, and one per person for film   competition entries. Include captions detailing where the shot was taken and   a description.

The 2nd Annual Turks & Caicos Maskanoo Celebration in Providenciales on Dec 26th, 2011

The first historic MASKANOO celebration took place last  year on the 27th of December to resounding success and enthusiasm.  This event, aimed at showcasing the islands’ cultural heritage with the incorporation of activities indigenous to the TCI including “Masses”, Junkanoo, food, drink, arts, crafts and local entertainment (including ripsaw, drums etc), comes again this year, on December 26th!

The celebration will take place along Grace Bay Road between Seven Stars Resort and Salt Mills Plaza, creating a close‐knit environment in the”Tourist capital”of Providenciales.

MASKANOO will run until midnight, with vendors selling local food and beverage, arts and crafts along the route. A variety of entertainment will be scheduled every hour on a main stage to be located opposite the Regent Village Entrance.

A grand finale with fireworks will take place on the beach at mid‐night.

8th Annual Conch Festival Nov 25th and 26th and the Wrightfully fit annual charity run Nov 27th!

The Eight Annual Turks & Caicos Conch Festival

will take place November 25-26, 2011 and will feature a weekend-full of activities on Providenciales, home to the World’s Best Beach.

 The popular beach-side event attracts tourists and locals alike to celebrate the islands’ most famous delicacy, historical icon, and number one export.

 The main event will take place on Saturday afternoon (November 26) in the charming Blue Hills area of Providenciales, outside of Three Queen’s Bar & Restaurant.

To burn off the caloric effects of Friday and Saturday,

Wrightfully Fit Fitness Center is hosting its second annual charity run on Sunday morning, November 27, 2011.

Runners of all levels can enter fun runs of either 5K/3.1 miles or 10K – 6.2miles.
