Turks & Caicos Beaches

I have no doubt that once you’ve landed in Turks and Caicos, your fondest wish will be to head to the beach. And indeed, why not?? The beaches in Turks and Caicos are some of the best in the world, and CondeNast agrees with me :) , thanks to the beautiful Smith’s Reef. The reef creates a barrier  that makes the beaches smooth and gorgeous; that is, sugar-fine sands and stunning azure blue waters –the beaches in Turks and Caicos are really all you could ever want. Here are the some of my favourites in Providenciales in Turks and Caicos:

Grace Bay Beach. This is Turks and Caicos’ most famed and acclaimed beach. The pristine sands are absolutely beautiful and the azure blue waters laps gently at the sands of this 12-mile beach.

Long Bay. This is the perfect beach to relax and/or to take the kids horseback riding? The shallow, gentle water of this area makes it perfect for young children and offers the delights of  horseback riding through the surf.

Chalk Sound National Park. Truly a national treasure! The shallow waters extend for almost 100 feet into the bay, so it’s perfect for family fun and romance! Sapodilla Bay and Taylor Bay are part of the Chalk Sound National Park. This landlocked lagoon features soft, silty bottoms and warm waters.

Babalua Beach. If you’re looking for beauty and privacy, this beach close to Turtle Cove Marina is perfection! And it’s a prime snorkel site for turtles, fish, stingrays and more.  The bay area makes it calm and shallow enough for young kids, while adults can venture off into the deep on the other side.  A few minutes drive away and you’ll be back in the Grace Bay beach area.

If you are heading to one of these beautiful beaches, please follow these safety tips!

  • Wear plenty of sunscreen. If you don’t, you’ll not only get a nasty burn, you could be putting your health at risk. Don’t skip it just to get a tan – the sun is far more intense in the Caribbean than the areas you may be used to.
  • Bring sunglasses. Protecting your eyes is smart, especially when you’re hanging out on the beach. Water reflects sunlight back into your eyes.
  • Drink plenty of water. Make sure you take along water. Don’t risk dehydration – it could wreck your whole vacation.

Providenciales, the amazing island I live on,  is home to some of the world’s most famed and aclaimed beaches. If you’re heading our way for an island adventure, don’t miss visiting at least two of our amazing beaches before you go. Have a fun-filled and safety conscious visit!
